Getting Started with Enkrypted Chat
⚠️ WARNING: Enkrypted Chat is experimental, unaudited, and unstable. Expect breaking changes and an evolving setup flow. For testing and evaluation only; not for sensitive communications or production use.

One app for encrypted messaging, files, and documents — no account required.
1. Open the app
- Use a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge).
- Allow camera and microphone if prompted (needed for WebRTC and video calls).
2. Connect with someone
Both people need the app open.
- Click Create new chat.

- Click Add peer.

- Exchange connection links, QR codes, or peer IDs.

- When connected, open the chat from your list.
3. Send a message
- Type a message (attachments supported).
- Click Send.

Messages are end-to-end encrypted over WebRTC.
4. Files and documents
- Default storage (OPFS): Files stay in private browser storage — no folder picker, persists across sessions, not visible in your OS file manager.

- Mount a folder (optional): Use the File System Access API to store files on disk. Create an empty folder first, then grant access when prompted.

- Browse and manage: Open Files in the app — works like a normal file manager.

- Preview and edit: Supported types preview in-browser; documents open for in-place editing. See Features.
